Exclamation 997 GT3 to get PSM!

From:www.997GT3.com

997 GT3: 415bhp, 3.8 dry sump engine, PSM in a 'racing' configuration (less intrusive than current 997 range), special colours and optional 380mm PCCB front brake disc - possible PDK shiftgear.. due in March - April 2006.

997 GT3 RS: Lighter with same power & engine as GT3 but with sportier interior, PDK/DSG gearshift - difference greater than that of 996 GT3 and 996 GT3 RS... due few months after 997 GT3.

Did I read that right, 115000 Euro? Thats going to be one serious chunk of change, isn't that about what the GT2 went for over here? If thats the case, I think porsche is raising the performance bar quite a bit, I'm definately excited to see what kind of chassis and technology changes they make on this version.

GT2's went for up to the $190's US...as for European prices, they really don't mean much for the US market. For instance it's my understanding that current GT3's were less expensive here (due to the weak dollar's exchange) than in Europe, especially the UK.

BTW I just re-read the page and my understanding is that the price includes (enclosed in the price) the 20% VAT (Tax) Charge...I'm I wrong here??

Now you've done it...we're about to have this whole discussion on how Porsche hedge themselves against a weak dollar and yada, yada, yada...

You'll see, it happens almost every time.

Dario,

Grazie per tutto che tu fa per noi del 997 GT3. Non te preocupare I tu inglesi è migliori di il mio italiano.

Now back to English, I love the site keep the information coming. By the way any news if the US will get the "RS/Cup" street version? And are you sure that the US 997 GT3 will get the DSG type gearbox and no sunroof?

If you can get some of these answers we would all greatly appreciate it. TIA and keep up the great work.

Thanks a lot for your words..(and your italian is good )

The info we write ar at least 80/90% accurate..or this is what we hope
We write only info that arrive from reliable source..

I don't know if the RS/Cup will arrive in US.. but i think yes, becouse it seems that the engine specs will be the same of the "normal" GT3..

For the DSG is all really confused..before it seems the DSG will arrive only in 2007(Rohrl's words),but now some rumors tell that will be available from the start like an option on the GT3 and standard on the GT3 RS/Cup... so....

and last, the sunroof is NOT an option and NO standard on the GT3 and GT3 RS/Cup...

Thanks. The rumor here in the states is that Porsche Cars North America did NOT certify the 997 with out the sunroof and that would mean that all 997 would have to come with sunroof's.

I hope you're right on everything, US "RS/Cup", DSG and NO sunroof!!

I wonder if this means you can turn off PSM, and not have it come on at the first hint of brake lockup.

Ciao Super Darius...
Where do you live in Italy? One of my very good 993 friends lives in Treviso. I am trying to arrange a track day with him in No. Italy. Are you close to the Veneto region?

Salute! Bob

Hi Bob..

i live near Como(Lombardia)....and Veneto is not so far..when you come, let me know..maybe we can meet..

Coming back on the Gt3..i think is impossible that the sunroof will be standard..,is the same to tell that all the 997 Cabrio will have the RollBar

maybe PCNA has just a solution in mind...

We must wait again two months....it seems that in december there will be the offcial announcement...

Let's see.

- 996 GT3 RS suspension upgrades.
- increased front and rear track.
- 415 3.8 dry-sump
- DSG
- 997Cup PCCB

It sounds like fun. It also needs the new R&P installed on the Cayman S (3.88:1).

That's only 90 HP/100 TQ less then the Z06.....

Porsche is always off with there HP numbers...maybe 70hp/90tq...

The Z06 has a great handling competition mode, computer safety system...

When turned off it will not come back on.....when on it allows a bit of sliding before it activates...it's realy impressive.

If porsche gets something like that it will alow the average driver to be quicker...with less risk.

I truly hope the 997 GT3 won't have PSM. Porsche if you read this, could you at least work on a button that completely remove PSM?
