Default POLL: New 2005 GT3 Discount?

Just curious as to your collective opinions on this matter.

I've seen a few 05s floating around, a few already at dealer lots, and a few that are inbound or ONVESL.

and I've decided i should trade the boxster in next month since it will be redundant when i get the turbo S cab.

the cars i'm looking at have alot of exlusive options , like stitching, etc. so i thought the %off MSRP is benificial,

however, there are also some closer, bare bones cars, and i thought, since i'm going to mod it anyway, i would give the dealer an opportunity to hedge the discount they give by making some $ off the parts.

basically, this is a poll that asks, depending on the market, which is a more realistic goal?

7% off is probably wishful thinking, especially in your area. If you get that discount elsewhere, you need to factor in transportation costs to get it home.

The $ discounts are meaningless unless we know the MSRP, since MSRP ranges from roughly $105-$130k. Clearly, there's more wiggle room on the higher priced cars.

im shooting for something in the 115k range, anything more and it would have too many options for a car of this purpose.

i agree that 4% is the most realistic. 5% may be a psychological barrier for the dealer. however, once i get into the meat of the negotiations, i plan to offer them 4% off MSRP in cash,

or 6% worth of free parts/installation.

My MSRP was 114.1 and I offered 107 in cash, after some negotiating they took it. That's a 6.2% discount and about as good as it gets here in Cali (got to be similar in NY). Might have been able to do a little better in the Midwest, but with the shipping costs factored in the deal out here was a better one.

Timing is everything, they had 4 GT3's on the lot and the 997 was about to roll out (so they wanted to move 996's of any variety). I would think that during the winter months out there you could strike a good deal also.

Moogle, you are getting a 05 GT3 and a 05 Turbo S cabriolet and you are 18 yrs old? Damn that sounds like a good garage to have.

i will probably have to sell the bmw and the boxster, or at LEAST one. if not for the sole reason of creating garage space

like i said earlier, it would be too pompous to leave any of them outside

work hard play hard, its all in proportion

I believe there is a difference in what you can arrange for a car on the lot (consuming floorplanning cash) and ordering a car (which is what I did a bit more than a month ago). If there is still an allocation for a GT3 that you can order, PM me and I'll share my experience. (I'm hoping the ONVESL code for my car pops up on Wednesday.)

im taking a car thats already on their lot, i just went through a 6 month wait for a turbo S cab i'm not going through that again.

the last 05 Gt3s are just landing, and i dont think there are any more changable allocations anywhere

i find its much easier to negotiate for a car thats burning money by sitting in their inventory.

Are you sure? My dealer has me down for a March/April delivery on an allocation that I will be able to spec in early December.

what i meant is that most of these 'changable' allocations are spoken for, and it is difficult to find any more.

not to mention the wait is torture.

Nice job Tom! What color? You'll have to post pics when you get it. Now all you need is the sunny California weather
