Default 3.9 996 GT3 430hp weird dyno curve

Hello guys,

I am from France and bought one month ago a 996 GT3 3.9 liter by RS Tuning from a Porsche race team owner in Germany, it was his personnal car. Advertised as 460hp.
LWFW, close ratio gearbox (loving it), wevo engine mounts, h&r suspensions and some other good parts (gt3 rs chassis parts).

I love the car, went to dyno and had 430hp, happy with that (or shouldn't I with 3.9 ??).

I am just a little bit confused about the power curve that goes up and down ?

The guy who did it told me he could feel it, i can't.
Already tracked the car and was very happy with it.

What do you think about it ? Is it bad ? How to fix ?

Others precisons that might be helpfull (or not) :
- tyres are 10 years old, worn and slippery (cup 2 ordered)
- transmission bushes need to be replace (worn)
- was a hot day (29.5°c = 85°F)

Attached some picture and dyno sheet.

Thanks for your help.

We really need to know the full extent of the other modifications undertaken, as a straightforward increase in capacity from 3.6 to 3.9 won’t give 460hp.
What modifications were done to the exhaust and intake systems ?

Exhaust is from RS tuning
Cooling from cup car and I think also the air intake (carbon box).

I could know more but I should re ask previous owner.

I am happy with the 430hp, just the weird curve is worrying.me.

This is the dyno curve from my 1999 Mk1 996 GT3 fitted with a 2009 3.6 997 Cup engine :

I suspect you were expecting your curves to look more like this ? ^

My guess is you may have some issues with the resonance flap/s in the inlet manifold, either they're not working or the sequencing is wrong.

Yes !
Very interesting.

I would like to solve this later,
Can I let it like that ? No danger ?

This is the from David from Munich? Why not just asking him? Other option would be, to ask the Schmirler Brothers what to expect from your setup?!
Both are quite helpful when you`re asking friendly...

Yes, he is very nice and i already asked him a lot. He has seen the dyno sheet but he couldn't help.

I am in good contact with him, may be we'll go on track together one day. He has an aaaaawesooooooome garage. So many fantastic cars.

I might try the brothers so.

No danger as long as the fuelling and ignitions maps are good (which if RS Tuning have done them, they should be perfect) Most don't realise how critical the resonance flaps are, nor that their phasing impacts massively on horsepower and torque.

Why do you have confidence in the data?

Dyno runs can be very inconsistent and before betting everything on the current data you have, I would consider getting another run—preferably at some other place.

I asked the dyno guy about how it was reliable and how he was confident. He was pretty sure.
BUT
I totally agree with what you are saying, to me it is clearly a possibility.
Dyno runs are dyno runs....and I don't give credit to the guy.

I already thought to go somewhere else, I think I will.

Plus my tyres were really worn and slippery, maybe it did something (may be not, I have no clue about this)

Do our “normal” 996 gt3’s have these critical resonance flaps? Sorry for the dumb question. Never heard of them!

The Mk 1 996 GT3 utilised one, the Mark 2 two (I think) likewise the 997 :
Edit : The Mk 2 only has one.

It is very common that a NA engine has "drop" in the hpcurve, can be the tune that needs some work.

If the car runds and you`r happy, just have fun with the car.
