Question 996.2 GT3 Cage

Hi, has anyone had experience in fitting a 997 GT3 full cage into a 996 GT3 Mk2 ?. I have a 996.2 and want a full cage for it (It only has a basic rear half cage / harness X bar). The original full factory club sport cages are hard to find and I was wondering if a full 997 GT3 cage would fit or if maybe the anchor points or cabin dimensions etc are different ?

I have the OEM 997GT3 IVM clubsport roll cage (the rear section) installed in my 996.2. I also have the OEM 996GT2 Clubsport front section which bolts up to the 997 rear section. The 996 front and rear section is NLA... FYI, my understanding is that you can not install the front 997 section into a 996 unless you are willing to the dash or modify the area near the light switch.

As above Simon, the 997 GT3 clusport rear section fits the 996. I actually had bought one for it while I still had your car but was too scared of drilling holes and chickened out (not even sure any holes need to be drilled). Regardless, a guy with a 996 C2 bought it and installed it no worries. It was my understanding that the 997 GT3 “Motorsport” front section (with the dual uprights in front of the dash) also fits without having to the cut the dash, but the headlight switch gets in the way a little bit. I’m pretty sure mmuller successfully fitted the full 997 cage into his 996 GT3. Maybe he can chime in.

Have you looked at offerings from Safety Devices?
i have one installed in my stripper. Great cage if you are keeping the interior.

997 front cage fits with the caveat noted above. mmullers shop put one in my 996 GT3 and we retained the dash with no cutting. Much better cage than safety devices cage IMO.

I also have a 997 Club sport cage (with dual door bars) in my 996 gt3 with no dash adjustments.

I just installed the Safety Devices cage in my 996 GT3 - looks good, not as good as a full weld-in, but legal for some race groups

Here is the rear 997 section. The main hoop is mounted to weld in floor plates and the rear at the strut towers.
