Default Owner Essentials - Shop manual and Parts book available online

Gents,

I see people looking for procedures on how to do stuff and part numbers all the time. Both the parts book (PET katalog) and workshop manuals are available online. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND downloading both, printing them, and putting them in 3 ring binders. For the workshop manual, it looks like this file is a scan from someone, so some of the sections might be slightly out of order in the PDF. After I printed everything, I spent some time organizing so it matches the index (pasted below in this post)

The parts book - https://www.porsche911.lt/files/996%...T3_KATALOG.pdf
A single PDF (save as from your PDF viewer)

The workshop manual - ] Workshop Manual
You need to click and load each section (Group 0 through Group 9) and save it individually (see figure 1 below). The links for "Diagnosis Part 1, Body Equipment Exterior, Body Equipment Interior " are dead but everything else works! The body equipment sections don't seem to provide a lot of relevant GT3 info anyways. Diagnosis part 1 (DME, Tiptronic, ABS) would be nice, but that information (what each code means) is available elsewhere. Everything else that is included is absolute gold!

You will end up with 10 PDF files saved for the workshop manual (Figure 2).

When you print them out, some stuff may be out of order. It looks like the PDF was created from a scan of the factory book. Use the index to organize all the paper you print out (Figure 3)

Remember the 996 Carrera and GT3 manuals are one in the same. There are just specific sections that cover the GT3 only stuff (Figure 4)

I also included a picture of the finished product (Figure 5)

To my knowledge there is no "MK2 Manual." I believe they just updated the MK1 manual with bulletins for the MK2 model. I have a MK2, and I've been using this manual ... has not let me down yet.

Good to know. The different part numbers / specs make me overly cautious...

Hi All,

The wiring diagrams are different year to year, the diagnostic manual is also different.
