Default 311RS Onboard: 996 GT3 at Road America video

We have some photos and video from our last track event of 2018 - Road America with MVP track days. I drove @LuisGT3 996 GT3 for a session with him onboard. The car loves Road America. It is such a blast to drive, and quite the work out!

Here is the video -

We've been preparing the car for Luis since he bought it in 2015. It's progressed quite nicely with Luis focused on improving it's performance for road and track use. His GT3 is setup with components we've developed specifically for the 996 GT3 platform. Lu is active on here and I'm sure would be happy go into detail about his build. We're happy to answer any questions as well. Thing is a beast.

Curious what lap times others have run at Road America in 996 GT3s?

-Ryan

Great driving. If stock gearing without engine tune, stock wing class record for PCA J Class is 2:27.533. Minimum gross weight 3,192 pounds.

I forgot to mention the gearing - I believe the car came with upgraded ratios and a LSD.

Love this car! One of my favorite 996's. Is the gearing in fact shorter than OEM?

Thanks fellas. Yes, it has Cup 3,4,5 and factory 5th where 6th goes. For reference, my previous 996 GT3 topped out at about 193mph and this car won't go past 173. It pulls really great in 3-5 which is perfect for the bigger tracks (Brainerd/Road America) where it spends most of it's time. We are sending it down south for some events during winter (Sebring, Road Atlanta, VIR, Daytona) so looking forward to getting some baseline laps there. FWIW, Ryan's 2:26 Road America lap in the video posted above was with me (190lbs) in the passenger seat. He should be able to improve on this time without me in the car, pushing it a bit more as well. The car is approx 2950lbs. Stock 3.6 (With Cup exhaust, plenum, BMC and tune)with 61k miles (mostly track). Still runs very strong. Love this car.

Random question.....are you still running the stock battery? (wondering from a weight perspective)

No. I run a small Oddysey battery. Trunk is gutted. Air bags removed. Full interior otherwise.
