VIR: Getty wing on 996 GT3 worth 1.5 seconds
Recently I asked about the Getty wing vs RS wing and I got some excellent feedback. After deliberating it for a bit I went with the Getty wing and tall uprights. I'm happy with the product and the customer service but more pleased with the performance effects. My lap time in similar weather conditions and similar tires (between 7-10 HC on R7s) decreased by about 1.5 seconds--from 2:04 flat to 2.026. Ability to attack the esses, T10, T16 and T17 was great. Car still moves/slides quite a bit but you feel the wing working and providing that added grip.
Anyway, just wanted to report out as many of you have provided great input. Thought this might help someone else who is considering this modification.

I believe it....
I put a 60" Crawford wing on my 993 along with 993 RS CS from t splitters and Joe Toth front dive planes and took 4 seconds off my former PB at Willow Springs Raceway. I went from a 1:37 down to PB of 1:33.2. No other changes to the car.
I am tempted to get another GT3 front bumper, cut the air slot into the bumper, along the centerline of the bumper, just below the front hood, add Joe Toth dive planes and a 996 Cup rear tail. Just tempted.....
http://www.gt-racing.com/996-gt3-rs-...lade-part-709/. $1,430 for the CF wing, and about $400 for the uprights. This wing is up in the air stream, but NOT very street friendly for some.

Hey Chuck. Was there. Weather was great and as usual there were limited # of drivers. Forgot how much I enjoy these events. Hope you are well and still running the GT3.

Ramon,
I went the following weekend with NNJR and it was colder and wet. I've had the 6GT3 out earlier in the season, and it is still a hoot. I was able to get a PB at Mid Ohio, event after 10 years with the car. I'm on the fence again about what direction to go. I bought a Corvette, but am not a fan. I have an R&P ready to go in, but might go to a newer GT3 instead. But I've heard from very few people who have ever sold a 6GT3 and not regretted it.

At the end of the day it’s not the lap time but the lap time with a particular car. I know u know this. The new 991s are ridiculously fast. Hitting 150moh on back straight is fast enough for me. Hitting 160+ is not an interest of mine. U know there aren’t too many other cars that will give you more feel and a challenge. See Mueller’s video of his 991. He is a great driver but that car can do 2 minutes at VIR in its sleep. Again nothing you don’t already know. Please do the gears. I may do the same this season. The new wing has now given me a whole new level of respect for my car.
