Have a look at the Joe Toth 2 part dam/splitter. It's pretty robust. If Joe is still making them he'll make the dam as low/high as you want.

I put blind nuts I the back of the bumper and then use nylon bolts to attach the splitter to the bumper. It’s a very secure attachment but the nylon bolts will shear in a meaningful impact preventing any damage to the bumper. Works great

+1 for oem fasteners plus bead of adhesive. I was always dropping splitter off my GT3 at the track. my cup has it attached with adhesive and fasteners and it hasn’t moved one bit.

You will get sick of pulling on and off if that is your intention. The 996 was not designed for that unlike the 997.

Default Solution: Thanks one and all....

Based on all the wonderful advice, I am going with a BRIDGET CHASM bridge and eventually, a Joe Toth front splitter. Toth's splitter looks to be incredibly utilitarian, removable for street antics, and attachable for the track days.

Hi All,

I use some electrical tape instead of silicone - works well, comes off easy, and holds well

I had the Joe Toth splitter on my car. It was really good. I used #10 Rubber Well nuts to secure middle part of the splitter (5 x) and Porsche plastic buttons for the sides with double sided tape. Never an issue and never came off.
Then I used electrical tape to cover up the quarter turn rivets witch secures bottom half to top part to ensure they did not vibrate loose when on track.
For the well nut install, I drove car up on a set of 2x4 boards, increased the hole size in the bumper skin for the well nut size, insert well nut, place splitter onto skin, thread through screw with large washer, use a small electric screwdriver to install. Easy.

+1 on the rubber well nut method. My current Cup splitter has been on my car for 3 years using this method. I have found that pulling the bumper cover makes the installation process easier. YMMV
