996 GT3 Base Options
I’m looking at an ‘04 GT3 which is seemingly devoid of options. The build sheet shows cruise control, A/C, and floor mats and that’s it. Were all of those standard on all GT3s or were they really options?

According to my USA 2004 GT3 brochure:
- "Automatic air conditioning system with active carbon filter" is listed as standard, but then in parentheses it says (no cost option), so I have a feeling that A/C was standard unless you specified to have it deleted (similar to the lower section of the front center console which came standard unless you specified to delete it).
- Cruise control was an option, code 454.
- Floor mats were an option, code XX1. My car's window sticker says "floor mats with Porsche lettering", not sure if this was a further option or not.

I ordered mine new back in Nov 2003 and one thing I do remember is that there was very little customizing and PTS, etc. Your biggest decision was color and if you wanted full leather or not.
I guess PCCB was available but it was new and expensive.

There were also a lot of carbon fiber parts as options...steering wheel, console, shift ****, dash, hand brake, sills with GT3 written on them, and of course the GT3 seats, available from the European market.

While there were still plenty of options to load up a 996, I think most embraced the spirit of the car at the time and went pretty minimalist when it came to ordering the car to keep it as light and pure as possible. I remember when i was shopping most cars I looked at were 110k or less MSRP. That's not to say there wasn't a handful of $130k cars out there but they were much less common. I think mine was just under 104 sticker with pretty basic options like Xenon, metal door sills, crests in headrest and a couple other minor options.
In today's new GT3 market it's all about PTS and what options are going to be best for value down the road...nobody cared about those things when they were ordering 996's.

Order Guide
OK I knew I had it somewhere, just took some time to find it after almost 15 years. Here is the official Order Guide with Standard Equipment, Options and Pricing.

The car in question had a MSRP of $103k. I also have a 2003 911 Turbo and when was shopping for that it seemed like most buyers typically added several other options like crest in headrest, white gauges, etc. Not expensive options but not strictly bare bones cars either. Just curious what options were popular on 996 GT3s. The GT3 I was looking at (and why I started this thread) had a deposit placed on it right before I called the dealer after they sent me pics, so my search continues. It was a silver 2004 with 32k miles for $64k.

As others have said and as you can see there were plenty of non-performance options you could order for a GT3. As you probably know many GT3 were ordered by dealerships that loaded them with options to make more money.
