Wheels Upsize 18 inch to 19 inch
I have a 2004 GT3 with both factory and BBS three-piece 18 inch rims. Wanting to upgrade to 19 inches for street use mostly driven around visuals!
Any major negatives with 19 inch that people have experienced? Anyone choose to roll the wheel arches at the rear?
Have found fitting 996 Turbo or C4S rear wheels doesn’t work, due to the widebody versus narrow body on 996 GT3 and offsets.
Struggling a little with the whole offset complexity at the rear, factory 996 GT3 is 11J X 18 offset 63 mm.
How do you convert this to what offsets will work on 19 inch rear wheel? Many thanks

My understanding was that Porsche tuned the suspension for 18" wheels. I suppose 19" would be a track disadvantage, but tire technology advances might mute that point.
On the street 19" wheels would only make the ride harsher and the rims more prone to damage. Maybe there are some advantages, but I am not aware what they might be, besides a more modern look.

rim diameter is not related to width and offset as far as firment is concerned. You will be aiming to keep the same rolling diameter as the original 18 inch size by selecting a lower profile tire. There are various wheel offset calculators online that can show you how far in and out your new wheels will sit relative to the factory wheels, which I think is the answer to your question. I would not do it personally, it won’t ride well, it will handle worse and I don’t think 19 inch wheels really suit the classic proportions of the 996 GT3. I know you weren’t asking for opinions though.

If you do a search, you fill find old posts from a decade+ back that discuss this.
Stick with the 18's as they work the best on this car.

19" Carrera S wheels 8 and 11" wide, from 997 Carrera S
245 / 295 Hankook S3's - they stick pretty well
and
This combo is "softer riding" than my stock wheels with Yoko Advan AD08s.
I can check the offset if you want.
PM me if you'd like.
But 18" is a better choice IMO
Have fun!

Thanks guys for all the insights. Yes I will stick to the 18 inch wheels for the track as track tires are much cheaper at 18 inch and run factory specs.
Yes! it’s a personal issue, my workshop and I do like the look of 19s more, just for street use. Having done various other suspension upgrades, ride comfort no longer exists so not an issue for me!
