Default 996 GT3 rear 350mm rotor conversion worth doing?

While rebuilding and refinishing my calipers, it reminded me that the 350mm rear rotor conversion existed. I don't see many people mentioning this, leading me to believe it might not be worth doing.

Thoughts?

I have 350mm girodisc on the rear of my car just for the 350mm upgrade. IDK that it's a monumental difference but helps settle the rear a bit under braking and I went to lighter rotors at the same time so it was a win / win for me. Rears last 2-3 seasons so the cost of the rotor replacement isn't nearly as big of a deal as the fronts that go quite a bit more often.

You can use 997.1 rears as they are a direct fit. I am the European distributor for Alcon discs for Porsche & we offer 360mm floating rear discs. As above, the difference isn't really huge, but it does help keep the rear tied down under trail braking.

When I had my 996 I converted to 350mm rear. Also used Pagid Black in rear and yellow up front. The 996 is heavy forward brake biased and I found that increasing rear rotor and using grippier pads in rear help keeping the rear of the car behind the front axle especially during trail braking

996 needs all the additional rear bias it can get

Oh, I know I need more rear bias. I'm trying to avoid running different compounds. The spacers and the turbo rotors seemed like a decent option with a low entry fee.

Hoping the rebuild helps with some of the issues I was having.

997.1 part works,

Spoke with Derek @ Performance Friction who mentions that this is a good setup for the car

I had the 350/350 on the rear of my GT3 with PFC08 front and 01 rear and still felt like the rear wasn’t doing enough. I would do it if you are up for rear rotors. Calipers look great, what parts did you do the rebuild with?

I used RacingBrake pistons with StopTech high temp silicone dust boots and seals from Ohio Performance Solutions.

I will be due for rotors when I switch from PFC08s to Ferodo DS1.11s. .

Any preferences on which caliper spacer to go with? Probably doesn't matter too much.

Do you have studs or oem bolts?

Probably studs (if not a good time to go to same), so build your own.

Set it all up with washers to get exact dimensions then go to a machine shop for the spacers, and extras, etc. (I think my built spacer length was 11mm from long term memory FWTW....).

I use the usual PFCs in the front and Pagid Blacks rear to balance: More bite back there definitely helps....

The Ferodo are a great pad, cheaper than PFC and supposedly a lot kinder. I’ve got them in cup car and love them. Not sure on the caliper spacer as my car set up that way by previous owner but as you say, probably doesn’t matter.

I used the caliper spacer kit from Agency Power when I upgraded to 350mm rears using the EBWerks kit (and PFC pads)

Thanks for the info on the spacers. I will likely go with studs.

Good enough-
