Based on the above I am thinking 300v may be the right oil to be using for me.

An engine builder pal is recommending PennGrade 1.

Hello,
It's hard to say without a proper used oil analysis and not knowing the amount of track days you do within a given time period makes it quite difficult to give you a recommendation that's accurate.
Can you give me more specifics? How many track days? What is your current oil change routine?

Hello,
As the other person stated. It is not a Porsche A40 oil. This is a race specific product and it is not limited to what Porsche, the API or ACEA requires out of an engine oil so it is quite exotic from an oil formulation perspective. 300V is heavily friction modified to increase power reliably while also utilizing group 5 synthetic ester technology for further power gains, increased engine protection and increased reliability. - Nick

I know this isn't data but wanted to give you all insight to how this product is ultimately tested and where the R&D is done with very real world testing on a Porsche application (we also got 7 more HP and 1.2% more torque vs the leading synthetics). The story is not told enough in my opinion. -Nick

They will outperform in every other way however. 8100 and Sport are great products for mixed driving (street and race) and even 300V if you don’t mind spending the extra cash and keep the intervals down to around 5000 miles to start.
Let me know how I can help bring anymore level of understanding of Motul oils and how wecan benefit your Porsche -Nick

So far on this 8100 I have about 2K miles, including three DE's, (totaling about 16 20-min sessions).
I'm a beginning driver and am not pushing the car that much on the track.

Good point. The auto product will always come in a silver 2 liter metal canister. The powersport product will be in a 1L or 4L black plastic bottle with a bike on the front. -Nick

Thanks all,
This conversation is good timing! I have been using a Redline product, and a couple of folks (who I respect) have been saying to use the Mobil 1 oil. I will be firing the motor up next week after it's rebuild and would like to make a decision. I don't think I want to continue with Redline.
I will be using the Brad Penn break-in oil, but that will change quickly as I will be doing a track event in ~ 3 weeks (I hope).

There is an interesting story on the Porsche Mobil 1 stuff. Porsche changed their mind from June on in using 5w/50 instead of 0w40.....
