I don't know your health, but when I was in Ohio we had a sailplane pilot finally give up his wings at 95 years old, donating his aircraft to the club. I used that aircraft numerous times for solo flights as a student, bless his heart!

6 years. Bought it from a good friend with 7k miles, now at 16k. Motons, 600/800 springs, Euro seats, street height and alignment. Just stretched its legs on some backroads for the first time this season after test-driving and flirting with Elises, Boxsters, 997rs, 991gt3, 70s 911 hotrod, and 930 turbo. Every time I drive it I feel like an idiot for even thinking about replacing it with something else. To me, it perfectly combines the mechanical analog rawness and feel of the older aircooled cars with the performance of the modern ones. The best sports car money can buy!

As a possible future gt3 owner you just reaffirmed my commitment to finding and loving this car for a long time. Glad this thread is around seems rare in the era of car flippers and the pursuit of the latest and greatest threads.

i would imagine the next most similar raw cool car is a 987.2 boxster spyder. Also on my list but my lust is currently with the 6/7gt3, really good to see the long lasting love here.

I've had mine for 10 years, and just got a personal best on a cool damp day at Mid Ohio chasing AudiOn19's brother. The 6GT3 is such an engaging platform, and I continue to explore its strengths, and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I got a ride in a 991.2 GT3, and it is beautiful and fast, but didn't hold a candle to the driving experience of the 6GT3.

Given the demographic, the fact that owners of these cars keep them speaks volumes (in other words, folks who can buy gt3's often go through sports cars like used tissues!) I bet if you took a poll, a good number of owners on this board have owned multiple versions after regretting the decision to sell for the next latest and greatest model, only to realize the charm and fun and feedback is lacking in almost every other option in the same price ballpark (i.e., under 150k). That's certainly how I felt after I sold mine. There are faster cars out there for sure, but few as rewarding to drive (and it still holds its own with just a few bolt-ons and weight reduction!). In fact, I just did a few straight-line second gear pulls with my buddy's 2016 M3. In second gear pulls we were dead even (and I was even slightly ahead given my better n/a throttle response and no turbo lag), until he pulled ahead at about 100mph (400 ft. lbs helps him!), and even after that speed he still only had about a car length on me. Insert some twisties and it would have been game over! Not bad for 14-year old technology and no turbos!

^sounds like I need to see the “force” lol. Can’t wait to ride in yours! I assume he was stock but that’s still pretty damn impressive for old fun NA tech who needs turbos and artificial sounds, seems a little numbing

Help! I'm a tad reluctant to ask, but this is the place to do so and it's come down to not having a confident solution for an immediate necessity;
What tires do I buy and use to go to and from the track, and on track if it's pouring rain? Approximately 1500 miles a year use.
My 6GT3 has an aggressive alignment, it eats the inside of rear Michelin PS2s in 1500 miles, I can't (yet) bring myself to buy Sumitomos.
I have track wheels with Hoosier R7s so, I'm after a decent life 235/40/18 and 295/30/18 combination NON R Compound tire.
Pirelli P Zeros?
Any "just buy these" ideas and comments are ultra welcome. Thanks.

Just get the sumi’s. I’ve been running them for well over half a decade with no issues - maybe 8 years or so actually. Great value especially with track alignment.

+1 That's what I use for street and wet conditions. They're better than the price would indicate, but don't plan on extended tracking on them in the dry.

I think I may have seen the above coming! 3-0 Sumis, I need a consensus!

I have them too, but just use them for street driving and winter storage. They are fine for what I use them for...safe, cheap. With the miles you put on them, they'll time out before they wear out, so why buy great tires that will dry rot?

Good dry, but not as good in the wet as PS2s.

I think they also get a little noisy as they wear.
