OP you really need to provide more info on car, such as original build sheet and pictures. If it's a really a lean car I think this car can sell with a 8 handle on it. Prices have been going nowhere but up and there aren't a lot of good cars available. I agree with Scott that I prefer a clean 996.2 GT3 over a 997.1 GT3 any day.

Put together a great ad like you would need to for BAT and see what happens on RL first.

Your car is worth $80k or above, but finding someone to give you that is the key.

Two summers ago, in the fervor of a 911T cars for $100 k or more, and early 930s selling for over $200k, I asked high $90s... A friend and colleague who knew the car well, offered $80k.
I just wasn't ready to sell for that price, as I felt then, and still feel today that the car is worth more. Eventually, I still believe that the market will get there...

I have encountered plenty of people who tell me that they are looking for a "nice" GT3.
They are usually all talk... they want that exceptional GT3, and there are a few of them still left. But they really don't want to pay above current market price for an average GT3.
Can't blame them. I would like that "great deal" on an outstanding Porsche whose value is underestimated by its owner. I believe that most GT3 owners understand their market well.
The GT3 simply holds more value for me than the market bears. I think I'll just drive her until the end.

So "two thumbs up" for asking over $80k.. Those prices won't go up until 6 GT3 owners start asking for more! Let the games begin!

I have heard a few folks state that they would take a clean 996 gt3 over a 997 gt3. Two of them own 997.1 gt3s. I thought they were just being cordial, but maybe they weren't. I prefer the 996 gt3 because it has no nannies and the driving experience is somewhat more involving and I feel less insulated from the action than in the 997 gt3.

Just to clarify (not that it matters, but its fun to pontificate), I want to mention that if I had to chose between a 996.2 gt3 and a 997.1 gt3 and these two cars were "equivalent" in the sense that they were the same color, same condition, same miles, same mods, and the price was the same (or close), then yeah, I would take the 7.1. I've owned both, and I do think that the 7.1 is slightly more desirable, generally speaking, based purely on subjective factors, some of which favor the 7.1 (exterior looks, interior, sound, "status"), and some of which favor the 996 (driving feel, nimbleness, no sunroof (I'm tall), "under the radar" factor, lack of nannies, side airbags in doors rather seats (which is an important liability consideration for folks who install non-997 buckets (7k anyone?)), relative rarity (I like uncommon cars), and in my experience (flame suit on), overall performance (provided the 996 has a few proper mods and a little bit of weight reduction).

But, and this is a big "but," the reality is that this hypothetical "equivalent" 7.1 gt3 isn't going to be very close in price to its 996 analogue. In my experience, its going to be 15-20k more (maybe a little less if you score a great deal), and then you have to weigh whether that price delta is really worth it to you, or if you are ok passing on the pristine 996 in favor of a slightly more "well used" 997 or one with some warts. In my case, the EQUIVALENT 997 wasn't worth the premium. I loved my 997, but I loved my 996 more, especially when the true price delta between equivalent cars was factored into the equation. I may be an outlier though, as I could care less about status or bling. And, everyone's situation is different. Value and overall bang for the buck is important to me because I have a bunch of cars I want to hold onto, and if I start down the slippery slope of chasing the next better generation, then I certainly would not be able to enjoy all the cars I currently have (which is basically the only reason I do not currently own a 997.2 gt3rs, my favorite GT3 iteration, as that would require at least a sale of my 6-speed manual rwd gallardo).

Oh, and if I'm totally honest, I feel like my 996 gt3 was quicker than my 997.1 in almost every metric (although my 997 was not heavily modified compared to my 996, and the 997 was heavier). In fact, I have roll-raced a very well-modified 997.2 gt3, and I'm telling you that at higher rpm pulls, my car was surprising close in performance (the 997.2 was admittedly much more flexible in terms of low-down torque, meaning that you didn't have to wind it out nearly as much to extract the performance, which makes it "feel" faster). After that race the owner of the 997.2 was so impressed he went out and bought a dedicated 996 gt3 track car based on the bang for the buck to performance analysis.

It's solid...barely drive it like the 3. Less than 2000 miles since June 2017. Terrible. First actual track day in February...
I will say: it is SO much easier and less painful to drive on the street. I don't feel like I'm losing money every time I drive it to work

I have a 15k mile white 996 GT3, all original all stock. I wouldn't sell it for $100k, and I have a lot of other cars....
