This is what my friend's coolant pipes looked like when he had his engine dropped last week to get them welded. Car is an 05GT3 with 20K miles on it. Two of the pipes were hanging on by a thread...

yep- They all will fail. Unbelievable but true. Each time I see one I get pissed.

Upon inspection, all 8 of mine seemed to be solidly glued in place.
I still removed, cleaned, epoxied (JB Weld) and "pinned" them in place.
Note the not-so-great original adhesive coverage.

Excellence magazine just had an article on gt3 coolant tubes and recommended welding over pinning.

I'm continually impressed how JB-Weld holds up in engines. We'll see in 20 years!

Knurled OEM + JB-Weld is the method I went with.
It was recommended to me by one of the respected shops here in the UK (JZM).

That's my opinion as well - it's what I did when I built my 996 4.0. It's the only "lifetime" solution if done right.

That said, doing anything is better than nothing.
