Default engine coolant hose "schematic"

silly me, I thought that I would order some replacement coolant hoses prior to actual engine drop next week.
intention was to R&R likely failure suspects.
Porsche Katalog isn't much help.
It shows many coolant hoses, but gives no indication where they "live"
help me with a pointer or drawing that shows coolant hoses on the engine orientation?

Katalog lists these images

Thanks

Craig

Can you post the complete schematic with the part numbers on the right? I just ordered a bunch of hoses and used the 996Cup pet which is a lot clearer as to the orientation. I can try to cross reference the part numbers.

When I got my coolant lines welded, this is a list of the hoses that I replaced:

996-106-477-75 WATER HOSE SU 1
996-106-529-73 COOLANT HOSE 1
996-106-250-74 HOSE, WATER P 1
996-106-529-73 COOLANT HOSE 1
996-106-512-74 WATER HOSE 1
996-106-233-74 WATER HOSE 1
900-181-064-51 RUBBER HOSE 1

Default PET, Fiche with all 996 GT3 water hoses noted, highlighted

As Powderhound noted, the OP and I were using the Wrong PET,
Per Powderhound request, here is the GT3 Fiche with the diagram and part numbers highlighted. I needed this for my own use as well.
Note; This does not answer the OP's original question, to the effect, "is there a way to actually visualize where the hoses are located on the engine"
I labeled the fiche with descriptions such as "Water Pump" and "Radiator", but I am not sure what "Water Cooling #1" means. Maybe those are the hoses around the engine. And "Water Cooling #2" looks like Under Body
I don't know if I am lucky or what, but I've only replaced one water pump hose in 50K miles and 12 years, so I am not familiar with the cooling system.
18 hoses total on the fiche, which jibes with my 2004 GT3 search on the Pelican Parts website
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg2.htm#item6
I wonder which ones are not replaceable without removing the engine? There must be several hard-to-reach around the engine, including the ones that attach to the coolant pipes that require pinning/welding
Note that none of the part numbers in the above " got my coolant lines welded " post match the part numbers on this 2005 PET. They must all be superseded. The current number should come up when any supplier inputs these numbers. I just tried one of the old numbers (the one hose I replaced) into Pelican parts search bar and it came back with the new number.(I had to close a Chat/Help window to view the new number)

Default Replacing ALL Hoses

Why only those? Are those the ones that can only be replaced with the engine out??

The Pelican Parts catalog lists 18 different hoses that I see, including the two water pump hoses. BUT... I do not know if this list is a mixture of Engine, Underbody, Radiator and Water Pump hoses.
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg2.htm#item6
The Pelican pictures do seem to better depict the actual shape of the hoses.

Black04, the problem you have is the fact that you are looking at a 996 PET and not a 996 GT3 PET. The parts are totally different. Something didn’t look right initially and it makes sense now.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll check out Pelican Parts site.
It looks like the only katalog that I have is the 996 one, not GT3 specific.

Cheers

Fyi, there are errors in the 996 gt3 pet and alot of updated part numbers dealer will need to convert to latest version. Also dont forget about reservoir, and all those orings while your in there!

Do the cup parts avoid the need for welding or pinning?

That would be a different thread. Try a search on that topic and get back to us. ;-)

Good information, but all this begs the OP's original question, "... It (the fiche) shows many coolant hoses, but gives no indication where they "live"
help me with a pointer or drawing that shows coolant hoses on the engine orientation?"

And the answer to that is, "one would have to search for an engine removal tutorial with pictures or video showing all the hoses" and then still, one would have to match up the hoses in the pictures with what is on the schematic.

Even experienced shops probably wrestle with that problem in regard to not only the hoses but other small parts. Parts procurement probably adds days to weeks to a project that the shop could otherwise complete in a day. Makes one understand the meaning of the promise, "we'll get it back to you next week"
