Default GT3 Cup Shifter Question

Given that the 996 gt3 cup shifter is NLA, can Ii use the 997.2 GT3 shifter instead? Does anyone have a 996 shifter for sale per chance?

Yes the 997.2 is compatible with the 996. You may need to grab some additional parts to mate with the shifter cables (I can’t confirm this). A cheaper/easier/better solution would be to buy the function-first 996 shifter bushing upgrade kit to renew your 996 shifter to better than cup car shifter performance. No affiliation, just a happy customer.

I run the 997.2 GT3 shifter with 996 cup cables... no extra parts required and the shift feel is fantastic. The 7.2 gt3 shifter already has aluminum instead of plastic in everywhere that the function-first kit replaces except for one minor location if I remember right.

For even better feel on top of that, replace the 996 shift **** with the non-weighted 997 ****.

I have the 997.2 RS shifter in my 996. Complete drop-in.

I also have the 996 shifter in a box if you are still interested - was going to fab up replacement metal parts for it...

No, it is the OEM GT3 shifter. PN for the 997.2RS shifter is 99742401091,

PN for the 996 cup car shifter is:996.424.010.9A,

Run the exact same combo but have a stock **** and it is the schit, especially with Cup trans linkage and a trans rebuild in case you get a terrible case of 'while im in there".

I looked at the Function First shift solution, and to be frank, I dont see the economics of it. Its ~$300USD, and the Porsche shifter is $425USD. With the shift right, I still have to invest about 2 hours of effort just to fit the parts into the shifter housing. With the Porsche shifter I get a genuine Porsche part that drops right in. Am I missing something here?

ive got the linkage/levers on the gearbox ready to go in when I do my clutch and LSD and trans cooler... which is happening after the roof and rear window... which is gonna go to paint at the same time as the decklid and cup wing.. which is before the full suspension/brake overhaul...

ive already got an awful case of while im in there
