One other thing that I forgot to mention about the 996 cup wheel that no body ever mentions...the smaller diameter means the top of the wheel blocks your view of most of the tacho and the speedo. This can be solved by removing the lower cushion of your seat (euro bucket) so that you are sitting lower in the car. Minor detail but potentially annoying.

This is the wheel I'm going with, however haven't been able to find one for that price... I think motorsport raised them by 100 or so

I have the two buttons on the 997Cup wheel wired to the horn and two external buttons mounted on a CF backing plate to operate the various modes of the Motec display. Being able to disconnect the steering wheel and take it home with you also makes a nice theft deterrent.

I personally prefer the smaller 320mm 997Cup wheels as they make steering inputs quicker and more precise than the larger 350mm 996Cup wheel. The smaller wheel has definitely improved my driving. I also like the fact that the 997 (and 991) Cup wheel rim is thicker than the 996 versions which just feels too skinny in my hands. It all comes down to preference I guess....
Sorry for not seeing this and acknowledging earlier - thank you for the detailed info.

Best,

Matt
