Default Momo Steering wheel with 996 GT3

Hello Folks,
Here's a problem that has quite a few of us stumped, for over a year.
We've (many owners) installed this Momo equivalent of the Cup Car steering wheel into out 6GT3s, and they do liven up the car on the track.
Here's our problem and it's a tad maddening: The horn functions 100% of the time with the steering wheel column set in any position with, the Ignition Off.
With the Ignition on, one has to play the column in and out to find a sweet spot, and it's precise, for the horn to function. It's only one exact position and, it's too close the the driver's chest.
What on Earth is going on with this?
Any input, help, magic (including mirrors and moonbeams) that helps resolve this would be mighty appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Ken

Have you tried bending the brass L shape connector so that it's harder on the back side of the boss?

My horn works as it should. There has to be some sort of connector issue with yours.

The horn functions perfectly with the column Anywhere with the Ignition OFF.
With the Ignition ON, only in one very exact position. We are working on this, still looking for things to try, please keep the ideas coming.
Thanks!

I belive it to be an intermittent earth problem. I have a cup wheel in my 986 and the horn works on and off. ....sometimes undoing the adjustable column lever and moving the wheel in and out helps.

the power feed from the 964 item is fine...it is definitely the ground side of things.

Yup, same symptom with mine - need to adjust telescopically to the right "spot" for it to work. Bit of a pain. I run it fully close to me on track, and adjust it in on the street so I have my horn.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind a horn on track...

DO you remove the clock spring for this install? If so how do you un-clip the clock spring from steering column???. there is one last large gray clip that I cannot get free without breaking something.
