Suspension Clunks
In case some of you haven't had the problem, GT2 and GT3s share a common flaw. The sway bars come loose. This produces a loud clunk and a vibration which is felt through the chassis. No big deal, just tighten them up. This seems to happen after a coupe of hard days at the track. There is a TSB increasing the torque on the bolts according to my dealer.

Guys, I was unable to get the data from the dealer. It is is a TSB from Porsche so your shop will have it. My contact for such things is on holiday right now.

Sloth,
I am trying. I feel silly about not being able to get the new torque spec. When I had the problem the first time, the mechanic at the dealership told me that they had been recently informed of a higher torque for the bolts securing the sway bars. He tightened them up and the problem on my GT2 went away until I changed the bar settings and sure enough I had the clunk after a day on the track. I tightened the bolts when I changed the setting but I did not TIGHTEN them.
My GT3 developed a clunk the first day I had it at the track. I tightened it myself using a 3/8 inch socket wrench and pushing hard on it. Sadly I cannot relate that in foot pounds. While at the dealer ask the technician to show you where to tighten it so you can do it yourself at the track if need be. You can reach the bolts by crawling and slithering under the car. Until my technician comes back all I can suggest is to tighter the bolt very firmly. I would not use a half inch wrench and a pipe mind you ....

FWIW, I've never used a torque wrench on those bolts and have never had one come loose. It's not that sensitive to a particular torque as some bolts are. As Bob says tighten it firmly but don't try to rip it off...

This problem isn't unique to GT2 and GT3 - I owned two different 996 TT's and each of them developed a "clunk" from loose sway bar. The dealer service dept. was very familiar with the issue.

with just 1200 miles of pounding up and down the mountain: clunk, clunk clunk.
i just popped into the BH Porsche to have my bars tightened. the usual great service, in and out in 2 minutes. Jack, the mechanic thinks they tighten them before the paint dries and maybe that's why they always undo.
btw: a great scene at BH service: 3 arctic GT3's together; they just received 2. one had silver "GT3" letters, is that an option?

At that rate, it looks like Porsche will get the 750 delivered, other dealers are expecting 2-3 more over the coming months. I know all dealers don't get the same amount of cars (if any), but aren't there about 300 dealers?

About 200 dealers. Sell rate in NA has been one per day. There are only about 180 days left. However, factory building of RS and race cars for next season might be limiting GT3 builds the past couple of months.
