Default Replacement IMS 'failed'?

Anyone following this from another forum?

With another thread already discussing non-original bearing failures, I thought this would get included in the thread.

His flange gets quite a hammering from the state of it, must had been wobbling a wee bit!

Haven't seen that before but will follow along to see how it concludes

i guess the real question is, is this fail due to an aftermarket bearing or would a stock bearing fail too?

As much as I feel for the poster if that story is real, something just doesn't add up. That bearing and flange looks as though it was driven or run for a long time on a failing bearing, yet the op says "there was no unusual noise" just a CEL... I'm calling bs, at the very least on the story and/or timeline...

Nah, that looks just like the examples of failed bearings I've seen in person (my Indy has a couple in his "throphy" case) and in pictures.

I agree that the description doesn't sound right though. I don't think of ever heard of a quiet failure. Maybe he had music blasting and couldn't hear it?

Of course, as always, the question is what really failed first? Was it the bearing that took out the motor, or something else that took it out.
