e-brake didn't hold

If you travel with a laptop bag or courier bag, it's easy to knock the release button on the e-brake handle when you're getting out...

It was still on... 3 clicks. It was parked at a bit of a slant... not real steep. The brake held for some 4 hours before it rolled. (??) The last thing any of you want to hear is "sir, your porsche just rolled into my service van". At least it didn't hit a person.
I guess I'll be leaving it in gear from now on!

Yes, leave in gear-first gear and reef-up on the handbrake as well. I've done this with every stick shift car, approximately 11 different ones, I've owned since 1966 and never had one escape, yet. Yeah, I know, I owned a bunch of automatics during those years too.

If I hadn't felt mine start to roll and realized what had happened, that could have been me as well. Now I unload my bag from the passenger seat instead of dragging it over the e-brake handle...

Always leave it in gears, that's just basic 101 with any stick!

early in my 996 turbo ownership, I parked it on my steep driveway with the engine running to grab something in the house. I pulled the e-brake on pretty tight (turns out there was one more notch remaining), I got with one leg out of the car when it suddenly started rolling backwards. Trying to jump back in I pressed on the clutch with my right leg instead of the brake, just realizing in time what was going on. It wasn't pretty. On mine it is important you get that last tooth on, but I would never leave it like that on any kind of slope. I'm not sure if it need new ebrake shoes.

jack up the rear so both tires lift
click parking brake until the wheels just can't spin by hand - usually 3 clicks or so
use torque wrench now to rotate each wheel to find the "loosest" spinning one
undo 1 lug bolt on the loosest wheel - might need to lower the car or increase the parking brake clicks if you don't have an impact wrench
undo parking brake to rotate the open lug hole to access the parking brake adjuster through the hub
re-click the brake to the original 3 click amount
adjust the clamping force so that the wheels now require the same drag to rotate; if you have no "feel" to accomplish this process accurately, then you may want to quantitatively do this by figuring out how much torque the tighter wheel takes to break free/rotate with your torque wrench, then match that torque to the loosest wheel.
replace missing lug bolt and torque
done!

Woah that sucks, it looks like it's not too bad though and the damage looks isolated to your rear bumper.
+996 on always leaving a stick in gear, not doing that is like parking an automatic in neutral.
Hope you get it sorted!
