Default ABS Failure!

During an autocross yesterday, my ABS went out and the OBD says ABS FAILURE and the ABS idiot light is on. I have only basic ABS, no PSM

Brakes work fine, just no ABS.

I have a new found appreciation for ABS. Without it working, its really easy to lock up the brakes.

In searching, it could be a wheel sensor that went bad. I did find some info on testing them with a OHM meter, but there were several values mentioned and I don't know what the correct one is.

Anyone have any thoughts on troubleshooting the problem?

You need to query the system for a fault code, always start with the fault code. You will need more than a generic OBDII code reader to pull the fault code from the ABS.

Once my Durametric finally connected to the ABS system, it showed a 4210 code (rt rear sensor). I also found a P0501 code which appears to be a fault in the same sensor

there ya go..check the wiring and pulse ring for physical damage or debris. Check wheel bearing for looseness, if all looks good replace sensor..

It was the rt rear sensor

I swapped it out from another car and the ABS works properly

Goods ones read around 1.8k and the bad one was .4k
