RMS Installer Tool Interest???
I am not new to Rennlist but am new to the 996 board. I purchased a 2004 AE 996 in February. I have been working on maintenance items and am getting closer to doing the RMS and IMS. I talked with my machinist and he can make the RMS install tool from UHMW Polyethylene rod. The cost of these will be $70.00 shipped in the US. Looking to see what interest there is about needing one. He will make 11 of them which will mean 10 will be available for sale. Let me know your thoughts. A picture of what it would look like. And thank you for whose picture this is.

I'm in...How soon can u get them as I'm putting my engine back together now. I tried to get one from Cheatah online but no go... My RMS isn't currently leaking but I've done everything else so I might as well do it now while everything is still apart

One suggestion I would make is that small recessed hole at 3 o'clock should be drilled all the way through. The hole is to clear a pin on the crankshaft flange. If that hole is drilled through, that would make it easier to align the tool on the flange.

I've never used one of these before. Two questions...
1. Would this work with the newer style RMS (I believe its the 997 version)
2. Are there any type of bolts used to draw it in, or do you just hit it with a mallet?

2) no bolts. Just hammer. The end result is a direct representation of your workmanship

Well that works for my mechanical mantra of "Have hammer will travel"... Just kidding... really doesn't work very well with these cars and all their "special tooling"...
