Ordered a set of the super sports from Discount tire yesterday. They have a $100 gift card with purchase. I believe today is the last day. I was planning on going with the sumi's as I had positive experience with them before. With the $100 off the michelin tires they weren't that much more.

I think I have my search narrowed down to Michelin Pilot Super Sport and Continental Extreme Contact Sport. The Michelins look to be about $100 but I've heard so many great things that on their face seem to make them much better and easily worth the extra money.
Plans for my 996 include 6 or so AX days, 2-3 track days, and about 2000-3000mi per year on the road. No winter driving, very rare wet-weather driving.
What say you? Opinions on one over the other before I order?

For better performance on the track but still DOT approved for street use, I recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. These are R compounds, good stick for the longer DE track, but you do compromise on longevity compared to the PSS and the Conti's. At 3,000 street miles a year, you may end up replacing tires annually with these. I don't do AX anymore, so I don't have any recommendations for that.
