Default Cab owners, Am I the only one amazed how quiet the car is...

I have owned a couple other convertibles in my 48 years, but every time I drive this car with the top down I am blown away by how quiet it is. It almost seems quieter with the top down then when up LOL. No creaks from the top. Even at 75 on the freeway you can hear music and actually have a conversation. Is it even better with the windscreen set up?

If you drive with the windscreen and the windows up, you can set a stack $100 bills on the front seat and none of them will blow away at 75 mph!

Agreed, the windscreen is a worthwhile purchase. Wife's hair doesn't even move

Can I follow behind you when you do this? Just in case?

The last time I saw a stack of $100 bills, I was playing Monopoly.

Agreed! With the wind deflector and windows up it's amazing. My wife used to hate drop tops but with the wind deflector she is good to go.

Enjoy!

With the Smart Top module you can roll the back windows up too. Super quiet and serene. It's pretty much a Targa at that point.

Actually you can roll the back windows up when the top is diwn by simply holding the sensor button where the front top latch locks into then using the window buttons.

I am also impressed with the overall rigidity of the cab chasis. However it is still a cab and no way as tight as a coupe. I always felt the purpose of a convertible is to have the wind blowing your hair all over the place.

Well how bout them apples. Good to know. Have you posted it in the "Things I didn't know about the 996" sticky thread yet? Love the Smart Top module for all the other reasons but this is great info.

Cheers,

Do you happen to have any pics with the wind deflector installed? I ask because I when I go to the airport I have to put my rollaboard on the back seat shelf. The C4S frunk is so small it will not hold a suitcase. I have not put up the wind deflector thinking it would restrict storage space or get damaged by the suitcase. Thanks in advance.

You are welcome. FWIW, I chose to leave the deflector on full time...top up or down. So it is always ready if/when the mood strikes me to go TOP-less

Here is mine with 2 golf bags underneath it.

My car with wind deflector down and two golf bags underneath. You could also fit two duffle bags in the foot wells behind the seats if you wanted to.

You can can also put the top up with the wind deflector on and in the up position.
