This weekend, I unearthed WHY the '99 is better...
...and it's been under my nose all along.
See attached service record from Miramar Porsche (now Porsche San Diego):
Looks like I have a '99 C4S 997. Suck it...

That's a good VIN number, too.

The rest of the text, unfortunately, is what the dealership actually printed out. I'm not sure how it could be that many flavors of wrong, given the car was originally delivered at Hoehn Porsche (about 30 miles north) and has been serviced by previous owners at BOTH dealerships prior to my purchase.
I think the production date and the in-service date are the only two factoids that were mostly correct. Well, that and the license plate.

Remember the "DD" next to the delivery date means this car was produced to be a daily driver. No racing allowed, no garage queen allowed, must be driven every day, can't quit your job, must be used for commuting, must keep RPMs under 3K, -- its the law.

What did you promise the waiter?

I promised him $62.50 in exchange for programming both new key heads.
I was stunned that they agreed to program my "rebuilt" fobs (I put my keys in the new key heads along with my RFID pills) and did not insist that I buy them from the parts counter.
I was even stunned-er when he quoted me for a half-hour of labor.
And stunner-er-er when I only wound up PAYING for a half-hour of labor.
