swapped out my speedtech headers for a set of AWE's
speedtechs
AWE
I'm really happy with the AWE's. The speedtech headers fit well, had thick flanges and good welds. The AWE's are just in a different class though. The flanges are thicker, primary tubes are longer, and the collectors are true collectors.

Funny, unlike some companies who claim their headers are the same model for the 3.4, 3.6 and GT3...
Good luck. Sounds like they may have had a prototype sitting on their self, which is awesome...

The speedtechs had a bit of burble at low rpms that the AWE's don't have. The AWE's have a smoother sound in the low rpm's and are a little crisper sounding in the upper half of the tach. I run cat bypass x-pipe and speedtech mufflers so the car is loud. These headers seem to be just a little quieter than the same setup with the old headers.

Do you feel any performance difference between the OEM, Speedtech and AWE headers ?

They look great. I'm starting to do something with my stock exhaust. I think I'm going to start with headers. My question is, will most aftermarket headers bolt to the rest of the original exhaust.

Do your homework before you buy a set of headers.
996 headers run from $139 - $2000.
Some are made by the same vendor and rebranded, there is one vendor selling to 4 different performance brand names, and yes a $700 spread in price, same header .
You can actually copy jpeg resize and see the same weld pops and tubing bends in the photos.
Before you buy, ask the seller country of origin? They have to tell you if you ask.
They may state, made with German steel, then not tell you where that German steel was sent to be manufactured into exhaust parts.
Thailand, China and Japan produces a lot of headers, cats and mufflers that are sold under Italian and German brand names.
Go for long primary tube and a proper collector.
