Thank you.

The belt stayed on the car is amazing.

Would you be kind enough to give an honest thought.

Is this engine exchange ?

Many thanks indeed Colin

From the pic, the boss is gone. This is a tough one. I don't have an answer but just wanted to point out there seems to be excessive load on the belt before. You can see the deep groove the belt wore down on the pulley.

yes, it would. I blew a belt shortly after my rebuild because i didn't tighten the power steering pump pulley properly. Was a PITA to turn the steering wheel and I'm glad I was 2 blocks from my house as the water pump runs off the same belt.

Did you go back and try to look for the pulley? This is going to be an interesting repair. Let the mechanic try what they think would work. Don't have much to loose anyways.

Definitely engine out. The repair will require great skill .Start asking for recommendations to people who do machining work and welding on old, valuable cars and motorbikes.
Looks like the car has been used in a very corrosive environment ?
The there are all the 'while you are in there' jobs. It will be expensive but it seems the internals of the engine are excellent(your assessment). So worth while doing. It will take a while so I hope you have alternative cars.

So Lorenzo 996 will go via low loader to my Porsche garage, the thought is it can be repaired, we will see. Thank you for all of the replies.

I have walked the route sadly not found anything.
Manchester is named "Rainey City" maybe that answers the question of the rusty look?
Not sure in the grooved look the belt was fitted September 2016.

My guy is Porsche only and has 30 yrs experience so fingers crossed.

Cheers Colin

I think it can definitely be repaired/welded and the re-drilled/tapped. The big question is whether the surrounding area of the block will be weakened... It may be a situation where the entire section of block needs to be heated first to reduce thermal shock to the surrounding area (which obviously means complete engine tear down)... Good luck with it, I hope it works out for you

Did you look behind the pulley? If the pulley bolt is still there, wouldn't the piece still be attached since it was threaded into it?

Oops just went back and saw the picture of the pulley.

Is the pulley bolt completely gone or is it still in the pulley? I know it sheared off the block but was wondering if the bolt was still in the pulley, and the sheared off part of the block is still attached on the backside of the pulley.

I think the pulley and everything else fell off the car.

Did you look in the ditch?
