Chips and deep scratches?
i used a cleaner wax an then a carnuba wax. I'm very happy with the results, but I have a couple stone chips and two scratches i couldn't remove. Has anyone used those color matching waxes or should I go see a pro?

A cleaner wax by hand won't touch a scratch. It takes a compound and a buffer IMO. You still have to make a judgement whether it is too deep to buff out without losing the finish. That is where a pro is useful - should know what can be buffed out and what can't.
I have been able to remove scratches that barely catch a fingernail by using compound and a buffer but it is sort of scary to do as once you are through the finish....

you should go to a body shop and see how much for them to do some touch up to the chips. or buy a color repair paint bottle and touch up the chips yourself. if you have some swirl or buffer swirl marks you have to either use a orbital waxer or polish out the swirls by hand. if you cant do it, go to a detailer and have them polish out the whole car then rewax it , wax is just a protector not a fixer

I've heard that if the scratch disappears when wet, it is only in the clear coat and that means you can wet sand and buff it out. If it stays when wet, it's down into the color and requires more work to remove. For rock chips I remember seeing an ad for a company that sells color matched kits - you basically wipe it across the paint and it stays in the low spots filling them in. In their promo video it seemed to work wonders on typically front bumper chips. Just googled it and the company is called Dr Color Chip. I've never tried it but may order some soon.

Dr. Colorchip works pretty well. It's not perfect, but it beats the heck out of crayons and looks really good from anything over a couple feet away.

Good point on the running crayon....
I have used Dr. Colorchip on a few cars. It does work pretty good but its a soft paint and machine buffing can buff the paint out of the chip.
