Oil pan skid plate and ims guardian sensor
Did my oil change today and found my skid plate has some nasty scrapes. Took the ims guardian out to drain the oil and found one of the wire broke with another wire has a deep cut...
I do not remember hitting anything but from the damage, it seems like it was a pretty hard hit.
Porsche skid plate is stonger than what I originally thought. Without it, I might lost my oil pan.
Also to my surprise, the ims guardian MCD sensor held up with minimal damage and most importantly no oil leak. I can't thank Flat 6 enough for making the sensor tough and strong. It might cost me my engine if the sensor gave up and oil drained from my engine.
I am hoping the sensor can be repaired, if not, I hope still can get replacement sensor since the ims guardian has been discontinued.

I just discovered I have the switch and the alarm in my new to me car, but the oil drain plug was conventional, and I didn't see any wires hanging loosely about the engine bay while I was changing the oil and checking the sump.
My first question is, how do you tighten this plug when the wires are on the side of the bolt head?

If you are looking for a sturdier protective plate, I recently learned from another Rennlister that LN sells a sturdier skid plate (made by Bilt). Might be worth looking into.

I understand that I need a special plug, and it definitely had it at one point because the electronics are in my dash. They do not light up however.

Why can't you just use a spanner, crows foot wrench, or an adjustable wrench? Or take an angle grinder to a cheap socket?

Is there a faultless tool available to pre-align the plug removal tool? I would be leery of oil drain plugs installed by "just anyone..."
