I removed mine without disconnecting the shocks.
is it bad when they say "hi Jason" whenever I walk into HF?

i bought the hex socket set from HF and was using with extension bar and torque wrench. I tried tapping the socket into the bolt with a hammer. It slipped and that's when I logged in here and posted. I don't "need" to do my CV joints yet but I had the muffler out etc.

i am going to put it back together and try another time.

until then, I'm off to HF.

thanks for the direction.

Thanks. went to HF and she had no clue what i was talking about. i looked thoroughly too. after reading this thread again, i went back to Bentley's book, 101 book, factory manuals...... no one mentions triple square. i have been around cars my whole life with dad and such and i had not heard this terminology or of this tool before. maybe called something different in Australia. THANK YOU FOR THE RIGHT INFO!

If you have a welder and the correct size nut, you can also try welding the nut onto the end of the bolt; if you do a decent job, it's even reusable*. Even a crappy HF welder that M3 thinks is a POS will do the trick.

*Reusable, but probably no longer tempered correctly...

Triple-square, security Torx, double-square, torque-to-yield...and then, of course, the joy of owning both SAE and metric-based cars...

It should be in the same section as the allan keys. I'm surprised they don't have it. Got mine at the Canadian version of HF called Priness Auto.
