Which IPD Plenum

Which IPD Plenum
I have searched the forum and could not find my answer.
I also tried calling and emailing the IPD guys, no answer.
My question is, which plenum is best for a 2004 4S with PSE?
They have a Carrera S model and also a Competition model that requires the larger TB and a free flowing exhaust.
TIA

I have the regular one on my car, love it (subtle sound improvement & better airflow with this & resonator delete). Other guys have the bigger TB & competition unit, same results from what I've read. If you're lucky you'll get some feedback on how best to utilize the larger TB/Plenum (think ECU tune, exhaust upgrades). What I've read from Jake/FlatSixInnovations, the benefits of the larger TB/Plenum are minimal until you get more displacement to work with (bore out to 3.8 or 4.0L). So with a bigger displacement car you can more effectively utilize the increased airflow. I have not read that it hurts performance at all, but maybe others can share more specific detail.
Bottom line, I think it's worthwhile to add an IPD unit. GL whatever you choose.

for my 04 4S , K&N air charger CAI, IPD normal, complete SS exhaust, headers, cats, mufflers all same as maxspeed sells, or agency power,
and REVO stage 2 ecu software. All runs great.
If you get the TB upgrades you need to find a ecu that learns so it will compensate. Try asking EVOMSit or some other tuners that deal with the TB mod
I know RSS was the distributor for IPD. I think it is rss rpmware or something like that

I have the IPD competition intake
GT3 throttle body
Fabspeed carbon intake
Tubi headers
Fabspeed xpipe 200 cell cats
Tubi mufflers
All I can say is that the intake with the throttle body made a difference in throttle response
And seat of the pants feel
Didn't dyno

In every application where I have evaluated anything except the IPD, I have LOST performance. In some cases torque (at a ridiculously low, unusable RPM) would be slightly boosted, but thats it.
The IPD works. I've ran them all on every one of my combinations of Street and Track Performer from 2.7- 4.1 liters, and the results hold true on all of them.
Greg at IPD truly develops components, which is something that has gained my respect. Thats an odd thing in this industry today, where you just make a bigger ad and sell more product.

If the engine remains stock internally, the IPD will help some with power, but stay away from the larger throttle body. Bigger is not better.
In my direct experience I don't step up to the 83mm until we hit at least 3.8L, and preferably 4.0L.
Its very easy to end up with "big throttle body syndrome" where the engine actually loses power.

"IPD has pioneered another new Plenum design with the Competition Carrera Plenum. Laminar flows and volumetric efficiencies have been further enhanced with our unique and innovative internal merge collector area. This completely new approach has yielded not only great performance gains but more linear power delivery and improved throttle response as well. Gains vary depending on pre-existing mods and quality of after-market exhaust installed. As we all "should" know, horsepower and torque become harder to find and typically more expensive as we climb the proverbial performance ladder. That being said, performance components yield different power gains depending on the order they were installed. IPD tests and evaluates all products on bone stock cars, this establishes a level playing field and a better "apples to apples" comparison. The Competition Carrera Plenum however is designed to work with applications that are already moderately to heavily modified. Power gains will vary with each Carrera, but the bottom line is, there will be noticeable and impressive gains that are sure to make any Porsche Carrera driving enthusiast smile.

Cliff notes: Buy the one that fits the OEM, stock throttle body. Only buy the larger, competition plenum if you're planning a full rebuild of the motor to include more displacement (3.8L and above). All normal 996s should use the regular plenum for optimal performance.

I have decided to not purchase a plenum from IPD.
If they can't take a moment to respond to the emails I sent them, I can only imagine they will not respond if I have a problem.
They never answer the phone either.
No way I am forking over ~$800 to be ignored.
I think it is a questionable product anyway.

It's a shame you've had that experience, i've found Greg's customer service to be excellent even to international customers like me. Don't give up!
