Like you, the practicality of the rear seats was a huge factor for me in choosing a 911 over other cars.

Great choice, enjoy in good health.

I picked up my Porsche last weekend. My 2004 with my dad's 1975.

One of the first projects was to change out the aftermarket Blaupunkt for an Alpine unit with Bluetooth and Sirius. I also changed up the center dash configuration to make the stereo easier to see and got rid of the CD holder since the Alpine doesn't have a CD player.

The first big project was to change out the worn motor mounts. With 83,000 miles, these are likely the original motor mounts.

The exhaust tips are now tight up against the cutouts.

At some point in its life, the M96 was fitted with an LN Engineering IMS Retrofit. I contacted LN Engineering, but the serial number was never registered. The awesome lady I spoke with was able to narrow down possible install date range of Summer/Fall 2012. With that info, it was likely installed around 45,000 miles.

Unfortunately, it's the not the IMS Solution so it will need to be replaced in the future.

That is a beautiful car you got yourself! I would not worry too much about the IMS, for ultimate piece of mind you might go with the IMS Solution but I would "simply" go with a new LN ceramic double bearing at your next clutch change. Better spend your money on good regular maintenance and oil changes. Just my 2c. Enjoy the car with your kids; they grow fast!!

Nice looking car. I have a soft spot for silver as my dad has a '66 in that color too.

Im with Volkert on the IMS advice and money on mantenance. Mine came with the LN bearing installed about 10k miles ago along with clutch and rms. I will change it out in about 40k with a new clutch and Flywheel.
drive it! It will thank you for it.

Thanks! I'm not concerned at this point and happy to find out it was addressed in the past. I now feel fortunate to know the approximate timeline that I'll have to address it in the future. The kids are loving the new ride.

Thanks!

I am driving it as much as I can and enjoying every minute of it!

The 4S has that X-Factor aesthetically. Base 911s got hips like your 996 C4S again with the 997. Stoked for you !!!!

Beautiful car...congrats.
I just bought my first, new to me, 996 4S from a non-Porsche dealership. The dealership was able to get records for me since they "owned" the car. BTW it is an awesome feeling to finally achieve a 32 year old goal of owning a 911.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a somewhat common practice for installers of the LN kits... I've actually got 2 stickers on my drivers side door. Since my car is a '99 and it's got a M96/-04 engine #(I think the original motors should have a M96 -01 designation) I think it's the second motor in the car. It's possible that both bearings were installed in the current engine as I've got 147,000 mi. on the car - problem is, I'm not sure when the current engine was installed.
