I used this as well. Worked great. Be sure to use some caliper clear over the whole thing after the decal is applied

I have several quotes from specialist bodyshops in my area, ranging from $1000 to $1400 to do the job - all four calipers, remove, clean, prep, color, decal, clear coat, reinstall... The question now is which place to pick! The guys charging $1000 at the bottom end of the spectrum have great reviews online but they didn't spend a lot of time describing their process to me to give me much confidence. The guys charging $1400 at the top end of the spectrum have some good reviews and TERRIBLE reviews online, but they did a great job of explaining their process step by step and showed me how they got to the quote. Crap shoot?

I've done this twice with great results and still have enough paint in two rattle cans to do many more re-coats. If you have stacks of hundreds falling out of your pockets then by all means pay over $1K to do it - but this isn't rocket science, nor does it take a specialist to do a good job.

You aren't color matching a faded multi-stage metallic factory paint, blending, etc... This is simple.

Calipers come off of your 996 with two bolts. Brake lines are easy to re-attach. Brakes are easy to bleed with minimal tools. My strong recommendation for you in this order:
1. )DIY
2.) Wheel Dynamics (priced right, no personal experience but their results look fantastic!)
3.) Keep as is
4.) Go with your local body shop references

Put together a few before and after photos, in this you'll notice the customer wanted us to also polish and clear coat his rotor hats..... I'm also including an other set on the shop Cayenne we also polished the rotors on so you can see how much of a difference it makes even with wheels on.

I just did mine. The results aren't perfect, but still way better than how they looked a couple of days ago...

Black is not a common color and is actually difficult to do as it seems to really let in the details in the final product....

I used a wire wheel attached to my drill to remove the clear and any loose paint. I'm sure chemical stripping would have been better, I just didn't want to deal with the mess. Then coated with black paint, applied stickers, and went over it all with clear.
