Back in a 996
Hi gang
So have gone around the block and come back again. Had a 928, 996, another 928, Boxster and now back to a 996 again. This one is a 2002 with 75,000 miles, guards red on black. Good shape overall some service history but not a ton. Old BFG G Force tires on the rear that howl on the highway lol! Will work on it through the last stages of winter and get her ready for spring.
Of course the obligatory pics....

Nice car Cosmo! I was going to ask what that circle on the back of the head rest is for? Is it a coat hook? I've had my 996 for four years now and I'm not sure if I have that. (or I'm just an idiot and never noticed)

Yes it's a coat hook built into the back of the seat Maybe it's a convertible thing?

I know the G-Force tires were OEM on some cars, but they hydroplaned like nobody's business on my Corvette AND 996. I still have to use them on the Corvette due to the wonky tire sizes for the 'Vette - so I stay out of the rain in that car.

The 928 is really a great driving car, but finding a well sorted example is getting really tough, and the ones that are close to perfect demand mucho dollars now. To bring a neglected one up to standard takes a lot of money and time. The work required to do a quality paint job on one is just insane! My 2008 E90 M3 now fills in the role of the 928, with the bonus of having 4 doors. It truly is an awesome daily driver car.
The Boxster is really a great handling car, but with two kids, not having a back seat restricts us big time. And the 2.5 sounds great but lacks a bit in the power department. So I decided a 996 Cabrio was the best overall solution for the family "toy".
