I have a new to me 03 C4s, going to flush coolant, which coolant is best for these cars? Seems to be two options #04330149 which i believe is the green /yellow stuff or # 04320378 which I think is the pink stuff?

I got the G13 (Replaces G12) coolant from the VW dealer. There is now an equivalent generic coolant at the local parts store named OEM or something like that. Used it many times in my Passat when I had a massive leak at one of the coolant flanges and topped it off when I fixed it too. Has been running fine with that so that might be an option for the 996.

00004330149 is the correct one and it's pink. $31.3/gal from sunsetporscheparts.com and you need 3 gals for a full flush.

Fluid capacity of the coolant is 5.95 US gallons or 22.5 liters. Use the Porsche (pink) stuff. You can never get 'all' of the fluid out but I did come pretty close by disconnecting hoses in the front, middle, and back of the car. I used an AirLift style vacuum refiller (you will need an air compressor) and it was totally worth it.

You can do that but there's a MUCH simpler way to drain out the coolant completely!

I used the Pentosin Pentofrost SF from OReilly auto parts. Much cheaper, same stuff.

I think that's the common misconception. The pentosin is $14/1.5L = $35/gal. Stock coolant is $31/gal plus shipping. Check my math though

Doing the math....how is that cheaper?

@ 22.5 liters you would need 15 bottles...@ $12.99/bottle that's $194.85, this is if you don't mix it 50/50 with water..

if 50/50 mix..you need 7.5 bottles...@ $12.99/bottle that's $97.50

Porsche brand is $30-35 per gallon...need 3 that's $90-105.

where does the "much cheaper" apply?

Clearly you have a friendlier dealership than I do. EVERYTHING is above MSRP here.

Is the OEM stuff the G40 designation? I see Zerex makes a version also at a lesser cost...?

Toyota red coolant is also compatible (G40), and works fine in any alloy engine. I use it in my 996, my 360, and my Land Rover.
