P/N Help Please - Vacuum Line Bracket @ Engine

1 Attachment(s)
I need to purchase the bracket shown below. There are two of these in a row and they hold 3 lines, which I believe are vacuum lines - one of which comes from the AOS. I thought this was p/n 99950752140 but it isn't.

I spent 45 minutes at the Porsche Dealer parts counter this AM and they cannot identify it either. They suggested I remove one and look for a molded number but I am reluctant to do that and risk breaking it. Would give it a try if the engine were out and the clip were more accessible. It is recognizable by the retaining pin in one end rather than a push on retainer in the middle like most of these.

Any help out there? Or anyone have engine out who could give this a close look for a p/n?

That's a tough one. I checked the parts diagram and couldn't find it either.

Cannot locate the picture. It is on the AOS piping page in the PET and simply says hose holder.

You could yank that one and see if it has a P/N on it.

Ill take a look at mine and report to see if I can identify a part number on it.

That one (#21) has a loopy look in the illustration but the picture cold be wrong. Probably worth a shot for $3 :-).

OK I looked and I think that loopy one #21 is actually like a cable tye with a clip on it, located further to the rear and retaining only one of the lines.

I even wondered if the darn thing would be in the body section of PET like it was attached to the body and not considered an engine part but I didn't find it there either.

Maybe if someone can find the engine bay bracket for the AC lines, the other bracket might be there. Just a thought. I could not find it in PET either.

Well so far I have stumped Suncoast, Sunset, Renntech and Rennlist (including the inscrutable Duncan) with this request.

I am curious to learn whether this is a -02 and newer only part or if all 996s use this clip. Can someone with a -01 or earlier car take a peek and let me know if yours looks like the picture above?

EDIT: No sooner did I post this than I got an email from Sunset with what appears to be the correct part. Will update when I know for sure.

Device2 02-07-2017 06:08 PM

Yeah mine is a 2000, the build sticker says 9/99 and I have the same clip in my engine firewall, so I can confirm it's installed on pre -02 models.
Been looking for it on the PET too, worse case scenario I might go see if one of the 996 carcasses at a near by dismantler has one.

Try the Design911 site on the front page left hand side it says parts diagrams , go on that then navigate through to the relevant area, under the diagrams is every part number, it's very good, is it the bracket at the top of the picture or the one lower down ?

Noz1974 02-07-2017 07:00 PM

99950752140 could be ?? It's on fuel line rear diagram 201-10 on design 911

I didn't go to the Design911 page but here is a picture of what Sunset came up with. I assumed that only a small portion of mine was broken but this photo made me realize that perhaps the entire portion to the right of the retaining pin was broken. Minus that piece, it looks exactly like what I have left of mine. I ordered two of them so we'll see how that goes. BTW, it was found in the power steering section of PET which makes no sense for the actual location of this clip but I am hoping that it is a common clip used elsewhere - meaning other than just for PS lines. P/N is 996-355-543-00 .

Ahsai 02-07-2017 09:10 PM

Nope, that's not the piece. Your pieces are not broken. I took this photo long time ago on the '02 roller and you can see clearly both clips are identical to yours and they are not broken.

The good news is you can cut off the part you don't need from the new clips you ordered :D

#14 and #15 here look promising but hard to tell the sizes...

Those were identified by Sunset in my first email correspondence with them. I tried to crawl under my car to see what they look like but I could not - obscured by the underside trays and the low ride height of my car.

Look promising though with the retaining pin at the end like that.
