Default Light Savers?

Despite reading a couple books about the 996, all of the stickies and keeping up on the forums, I discovered something I've never heard of. Light savers? Apparently the 996 turbo and similar models (like my 4S) suffer from brittle retainers for the rear tail lights and they have a tendency to crack over time causing the light to completely fall out.

Does anyone have experience or opinions on this? The creator commented on my engine mount replacement YouTube video that my light brackets were cracked and on the way to falling out. I went back and checked and the plastic is definitely cracked. Before ordering some I figured I'd post here and see if anyone had experience with this or opinions?

Cheers
Charlie

Worked fine for me. 1st pic shows broken bottom part of the mount. All of the mounts were cracked or broken out.
2nd pic shows LS in place.
I did take the left light out to move the mount bracket down about the thickness of a credit card for more clearance. It was almost touching the engine lid when it was latched.

3 of my 4 rear light brackets are busted. Bought these. They work.

Did not know Pelican was offering them also. I heard about them in a thread here or Renntech? last year and had to search for them.

He was listing these on eBay. Great guy to work with. IIRC there is a website of his stuff as well. Have not put mine on yet but I will before any issues arise.

Just a reminder to all, check your taillight mounts. Didn’t think much of it even though I was aware if the common issue and found my right taillight barely hanging on and loose while washing the car today. Left one was cracking as well.

I have a set, and they work. These can break too. Make sure to use spacers so they fit flush at the mounting points. It's easy to lose the spacers in there originally when removing the lights/bumper, (probably why so many break, aside from poor design and over-torquing the bolts), but washers work fine.
