How wide can I go on 18x10 + 18x8.5 on a C2?

Fitment issues aside - what is everyone's experience with how they drive.
Really looking to have my car more playful and willing to rotate a little bit. Really eliminate understeer and have the car turn in well at the limit or close to it. I'm already adding GT3 control arms and sway bars.
So debating on running MY02 with 10's in the rear and 9's in the front or going with 8.5 in the front and 11's in the rear with a 295 rear tire. I'm worried that going that wide will push me in the wrong direction for what I want.
Finally, 235 vs 245 for the front - any recommendation since many of you have experience with both.
