I like the stripes wide apart on the 911R but not sure yet on the 996, something about the front being squared off instead of rounded/slanted.

I too like the idea/ curious of 911r stripes on our 996. This was just fooling around with painters tape one night a while back, the color is not what I would choose (I would do matte black) but I thought it looked neat. I can't wait to see your's done officially!

Great idea doing it with the tape, but still not liking that look.

If I were to put stripes like that on to mimic the 911R, I'd want to have it done as a full car wrap. That way you could round out the headlights and put the stipe in the same configuration along the car's other natural lines. And get the same side skirt decals at the same time...

And when it loses it's luster... off comes the wrap.

I found this old thread because I'm thinking about adding "R" stripes to my 996. I agree that the mock-ups in this thread with the wide stripes don't look great - I think that's because they're just straight stripes. Part of what makes the R stripes work on the 991 is that the stripes are wider toward the middle of the car, and the outside edges are curved to match the contours of the body. If you did the same for the stripes on the 996 they would look a lot better. I did a quick rendering of how they might look in the OP's silver and blue color scheme.

Now I just need to find out if Renndecals or someone else can produce these in the right size.

And I think these would look even better in a more subtle color combination. My car is black, and I'm considering charcoal gray stripes. I don't have a good photo of a black car to use, but heres a gray on silver rendering.
