Default 3 button remote will work for 1 button replacement?

hi i searched and read tons of stuff but didnt find the answer

i have a single button remote and want to switch to another case and was wondering if the 3 button one will work? the amount of single button ones are scarce

i know that i have to move the chip, internals etc that i am not worried about, i am just not sure if the internals line up so the button works, i know the other 2 will not work

i would just like to have a case with less scratches

Since I've never opened my remote case, I'm just speculating here, so take it with a grain....

Most key remotes have contacts on the internal circuit board that either a) are bridged by a conductive "pad" on the associated button, or b) have a small spring bronze strip that is pressed by the button to bridge the circuits.

That means that the position of the button cannot be changed. So, in your case, *IF* the circuit board fits into the key head (in and of itself a probable issue...), if one of the "new" buttons lines up with the contacts on the old circuit board, it should work. You might have to press the frunk button to open the doors, IOW.

But I may be just blowing smoke and it will drop in like it was made for it...

Why 3? How about 2 button head? I have a old 2 button head you can have if it works for you. I changed to a Porsche design head. What does yours look like?

Available one looks like this:

not sure if the 2 button works either but comparing all 3 from pictures it looks like the main button is in the same spot

I am pretty sure that the main button is in the same spot. It should hit the pc board mounted micro-switch without a problem.

This is from an ad for the fancy "911" 2 button key head. If this works with a 1 or 2 button head any 2 button case should work.
I have one like this that had a bad transmitter I got it from EBay for ~$40 at the time. I put the guts from my 2 button head in and it works fine.

"This stylish remote key head housing is inspired by the Carrera GT key design. Shaped like the Carrera GT key head, but with a "911" logo instead of a "GT" logo, which lights up in red when a button is pressed. The transmitter and key blade will need to be removed from your old key housing and swapped into this one. This remote housing will also work with 1999-2000 remotes, however the trunk release button will not function."
