Happy Halloween and positivity!
First off, Im new to this forum. Been on for awhile since I got my first 911 and have gotten some good info from here. But being a long time corvette owner and on their forum, there is a lot of negativity on here surrounding the 996. I know all cars have issues but so far Ive experienced none. Let me say I did buy a low mileage garage queen and did all the age related updates including the IMS from LN. My problem is I cant stay out of this freaking car and my vette has been taken over by my son. I just can't explain it but this car is down right a blast to drive! I cant pin it on any one thing, but a few are: the sound of the flat six, its such a easy one to drive and throw around. Never turn the radio on just put the roof to open, down with the windows and bam! Grin from ear to ear. Now let me say I get that same feeling in my vette but not like this car. Can someone explain what Im going through??Have had thoughts of selling the vette and upgrading to a newer 911. Would it be the same as the 996?? Boy this car is fun and even the wifey says its a beauty. Doesn't get the thumbs up that the vette does but it gives me back the joy of the drive. Just thought Id post some fun from last weeks cars and coffee with my toys.

These cars take you back to a day when the driving experience was more important than stats and technology. The newer the car, the more it does for you and the less interaction you have with the pavement.
But for me, it's the egoless quirkiness of the 996. I had a 997TT and it drew a lot of attention, was crazy fast in a straight line, and really fed my ego. But when I sold it, I didn't miss the looks or the power, what I really missed was the quirkiness of the 911 that just made me smile. It's almost like a VW Bug for men. It just has that same kind of spirit and soul to it, just in a racing version.

I understand completely. I'm a first time Porsche owner and try to explain "that feeling" to people, but unless they are or have been Porsche owner, they just don't understand. Couple of beauties you have there!

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I too chose a C4S as I wanted a daily driver that would be safe AND fun in all weather conditions and the AWD does that for me. With proper maintenance both preventive and ongoing, these cars are a blast to drive! Every time I get in and start it up, the sound alone puts a smile on my face....aftermarket exhaust help with that.
