Hello all, long time lurker first time poster! I'm proud to say that I'm finally the owner of such a great car. It's a 2000 C2 manual and tight as a drum. I am really surprised at how solid this thing feels and I count myself lucky to be able to afford one.

Mr. Bates, it would please my juvenile sense of humor GREATLY if it turned out that you were a harbor master, or a master mechanic, or even a headmaster at a private school. Can you confirm mastery in any discipline so I can just SAY IT and get it out of my system?

Yeah just a base 2000. It's the Millennium Edition that didn't take Y2K seriously. At least that's how I look at it. I think the only option it has is a sticky radio tuner ****. Like, sticky to the touch, very odd especially after the dealer's detail job.

Your wife...Master Bates. That's awesome. Thanks for throwing me a bone.
Autozone sells stuff they call bumper coating in a rattle can - it dries to a dark gray soft-touch plastic. Pull your radio ***** off, mount them temporarily on a skewer or coat hanger, and hit 'em with two or three coats of the bumper coating. It completely encapsulates the sticky plastic and dries to the same color and finish as the original **** material.
I don't know what they made them from, but once they start going sticky, Armor All and every other protectant I tried just makes them worse.
Incidentally, I've only seen that color on cabs before, and I really didn't like the way it contrasts with the soft top. I think it looks great on the coupe.

Thanks brother, I think I will pull them soon. Next mod will be GT3 console delete. Even at 6'2" 300lbs (all in the legs, thanks military) I'm surprisingly comfortable. But that console just pokes into my shin/knee without mercy.

I have never bothered installing the onboard computer control stalk because I figure I'd just be whacking it with my knee.

LOL!!! You bought this car from Tacoma Porsche, correct?
I was looking at this car while doing some online shopping.
Very nice 996. Love the color combo!
Congrats and Welcome!
