Default I'm too short, I can barely see over the wheel....

I can just see over the wheel. My neck hurts after a longer drive because I am straining to see. I am 5'7" but all legs and a short torso. Are there seat pads/ect that are better than the cheap ones I can find from an auto parts store?
The seat will not raise any more on this 1999 C2 and I would prefer not put spacers in just yet (if that is even possible.)

Thanks guys.
Matt

Spacers might be the way to go - I suggest you don't give up on that as a solution. You might want to see if anyone sells stand-offs for the seat mounts - or if you're a competent welder or know one, fab some up. You'd want to make then freaking stout so they hold the seat in place properly in the event of a collision, but an inch or two would probably make a huge difference and seems better than sliding around on a cushion/extra seat pad...

Using the standard 3-point belts, it's hard enough as-is to stay in the seat when you're cornering/standing on the brakes at any kind of driving event; trying to stay put with an extra cushion in the seat sounds like it would suck.

ok thank you very much. I will try to work on a solution. I really wish it a little higher.
Next up I am going to take the muffler off and take it to shop for the Gundo hack.

are the 99's seats any different to the 02? I am the same height and have no problems.

For what is worth I am also 5'7" with an 02. I have the back more upright to not slouch and find it very comfortable. Do '99's have power seats? Mine is pretty adjustable.

I also vote for a set of risers. I think that would be the safest option.

I wonder what kind of mods would be required to make these work? Maybe just drill some new holes.

Doesn't the seat have a height adjustment? Both of my cars have this though I don't need to use it other than when I think something has gotten under a seat and I have to raise the seat. I've never bothered to measure the adjustment range but it seems quite substantial.

If you need more: For my Mom and Dad -- both lost height due to age -- I bought a nice foam/padded/encased in heavy cloth material pad for them to sit on. The underside had a non-slip surface. Oh, I think I bought the pads one for each car at a Walmart but maybe it was Target.

I'd use something like this - using a single part on both sides seems like it would be much more rigid (at least for accelerating/decelerating) than 4 single posts/blocks.

Im 5'9 and have a 99 with power comfort seats. I find the only way to get the seat level without sinking by butt too far below my knees is to rais the seat to the point where the roof is close to my head. Im really up high in mine, I can lower it to the floor and still see no problem (its just uncomfortable for my back).

What seats do you have?

I have the most basic level seats. There is some power adjustability but the fore aft on the rails is mechanical. It will not go any higher.
I think you guys are right about the pad, it will just slide around too much.

Where do you find that bracket that you posted? It looks very sturdy.

I agree that the rail Schnelly posted looks like the best option. Way better than stacking up a few phone books.

Also, to help contribute, here are some good fashion options:
