I have an extra pair for sale from my 02 cab with 60k miles. I could mail them to you then you can mail them to Fisters shop. That's what I did and he turned them around within a week. He just does not have the cores on hand.

Hi all,
I just purchased an '04 996 this week, (introduction thread is forthcoming as soon as I get the detailing completed to my satisfaction), and I had a Top Speed exhaust on the old Boxster (I know, cheap Ebay stuff but it was just the mufflers and just for some extra vroom.)
Already in the few days I have had the 996 I am missing that nicer, beefier sound. While admittedly, the Top Speed system left much to be desired, what with the resonance at highway speed, etc. it has left me not wanting to put a cheapo Chinese on this car, but also not having a Fabspeed (have one on my 951, love the sound) or similar system high on the "spend money on" list as of yet, too many other goodies/projects, I really like the idea of this mod.
But, A couple questions for those of you in the know,
1. What diameter pipe is used to bypass? Is there a certain size or is it a case of the bigger the pipe the more sound? Is there a minimum size?
2. Is there any immediate drawbacks to this mod? Resonating in the cabin or anything like that?
3. Just how good is the sound? I see here most say it's a great difference but what is the difference compared to a full system? I understand a full system will be a far larger difference, but I'm more looking for a whole "on a scale of 1-10" thing, 1 being stock, 10 being a full header to tip "fab speed or such" system.
Thanks in advance guys.

Burning Brakes
Johnboy, there are dozens of threads about the Fister mod. I had Fabspeed Supercups on my 993, and absolutely loved them, although most people would likely consider them too much for street use. When I got my 996, I put Fisters on the car. It has a really nice sound, but not obnoxious. Absolutely no drone, in fact on the highway at speed with the windows up I really don't hear much difference from stock. Windows down, under load, it is throaty and sounds like a halfway compromise between stock and something like my previous Supercups. I will keep the Fisters for now, but likely move on to something more aggressive when I find a good option. Anyone selling a used set of 996 Supercups cheap? I do love the Fabspeed quad tips I installed on the Fisters, but they are only cosmetic.

Take the car and some of these pics to a local muffler shop - chances are someone can do the modification for you. That's what I did. So-called "Gundo hack." Maybe not exactly the same as Fister, but sounds great.

John, I will be calling you today, the Fabspeed Muffers I found on EBay were cracked, therefore I am going to the source, not to mention, I believe Fabspeed Exhaust sound the best on all P-Cars, but that's just me
