Default AOS Replacement - MKII with Tiptronic

Preparing to change out the AOS in my '04 C2 Coupe with Tiptronic. Having already read everything I can find, I'm looking for answers & advice on these issues:
1. Some report that with a Tip the engine & trans have to come out (or nearly impossible without).
2. If the engine is lowered, is it still essential to pull the left side intake parts.
3. With a rack, all the needed tools and decent skills, what's a reasonable expectation of time to reserve for the job? (I've read everything from 2 hours to beyond 12 hrs.)
4. Any other tricks or tips, especially that apply to the MkII or Tip.

Thanks in advance and wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Had mine replaced a few months ago, 2002 C4S with a Tip.
Engine and trans had to come out.

I usually like to do the work myself but this was one time I happily wrote the check.

while you are in there (with engine/tranny out)
* check/replace the RMS
* new IMSB
* tranny fluid flush/fill & filter
* plugs/coilpacks

Thanks for the replies, Gentlemen. Pete: With that in mind, sounds like that's what I'll be doing soon. Kromdom: There's a certified Solution installer within striking distance of me & I'll be getting a quote from him. I have other cars & have to be back in Germany soon for a while anyway, so as you suggest, its a good chance to have all indicated maintenance done at once. I'll report back how it all works out.
