Thread locker and wheel studs
I seem to be taking my wheels off so much that it makes sense to swap out the lug bolts for studs and nuts
Do I need to use thread locker on the studs on the hub?
If so, is blue Ok, or do I need to use red?

Speaking from personal experience - use Blue. I used red once and had to use a torch, ez outs and eventually had to take it to a mechanic. Turns out, blue works perfectly fine and, IIRC, is recommended by the various vendors. Studs will make your life so much easier. Get the long bullet nose from Apex.

You could also read the Henkel Tech pages.
Red - but only if you use high quality s/s studs to minimize the risk of needing to remove a broken stud.
Before you decide, get some data on how hot the studs become in hard use ?Blue has lower temp limits than red iirc

Mine have been rock solid since installing them with medium-strength threadlocker. Every time I do something involving removing/replacing a wheel, I regret not doing it sooner.

Also, studs are a wear item and should be replaced every year or two. If you install with red - you'll have a hell of a time removing them. And if a stud breaks at the hub, it will be damn near impossible to get them out.

I really wouldn't use red. No manufacturer recommends it. [See the install guides below.] And, honestly, wheel studs shouldn't rotate during wheel installation or removal, and they won't back off if installed correctly.

I won't get into a debate and have this turn into an oil type thread.
It's very simple. If you take off your wheels often and find that the blue doesn't do the job, switch to the red. If the blue works the first time, keep it and no need to use the red.
As for replacing wheels studs every couple years.... depends on if you also swap out your seat belts and helmets every few years and also if you're ok with taking "expired" aspirin...

I wonder if Ira takes expired aspirin...? If it's ok with Ira, it's ok with me...

PRO TEAM RACE CAR – TWICE A YEAR
I don’t know if any of our customers are following that or not, but so far there haven't been any failures reported to us.

Really? I wouldn't think any locker would be strong enough to break a bolt that size.
