Default convertible top problem-hand brake sensor location

hello:

convertible top was working fine before IMS replacement. Battery was disconnected during the IMS replacement. Now the rocker switch is not working. I am able to use the key to open and close the top.

Hand brake is full up and engine compartment is closed. The mechanic is telling me that the hand brake sensor needs to be replaced.

could you please let me know where the brake sensor is located.

thanks

d

It's located on the back of the handbrake. I believe you need to remove the center console to access the switch. Here's a site showing the switch on a boxster, but the 996 is similar.

Given the amount of effort to remove the center console, $100 isn't a bad deal. It's not that hard, just a bit time consuming.
