A C4 in Canada without heated seats? WTF?!?

I live outside DC and refuse to live without seat heaters, I can imagine a Canadian winter without it

Personally I like the 3.6 bigger engine, different headlights, updated cluster and a glove box! The glove box seals the deal haha. Both great looking cars

What is it you people carry around with you that won't fit in the door pockets or the center console? That extra kilo of cocaine?

Meh, mine has my service wallet in it an empty savage garden cd case and torch. I should ditch the torch and the cd case to save weight. It is super handy for that extra kg though!

So you think replacing the original IMSB might actually eventually devalue one of these cars?

Definitely. Those looking for such a low-mileage example do so to find the most original car possible; they want to be the ones to make sure that the work is done perfectly, with exactly the parts they want, or believe that the lower mileage will make the car last longer.

The other big issue is that you can run into IMS bearing replacements that occurred AFTER the original failed. If the original bearing fails, the engine is disqualified from the IMS retrofit and the IMS solution due to the metal debris that gets run through the whole engine with the oil, and will subsequently destroy any new bearing that is installed.

Glad I didn't buy mine for investment reasons.

Lucky my original didn't fail...I don't think.

This is the main reason. If you do it, you get to make the choices about how it is done and get to know the state of the motor. If the seller had it done you have to either do it again to be sure or trust that it's not just lipstick on a pig.

If I were buying a 996 I would take a factory bearing car over an upgraded one unless the upgrade was done by one of the certified installers and that could be verified. Either way I would be budgeting to have it replaced just the same (unless a certified installer confirmed they did it and all was good).

As far as Woodman's specific question, had I known ours was a dual before I had it opened, I would have simply done the clutch and not thought twice. I wouldn't have even had the outer seal pulled. Once we were in there that far, however, it seems silly not to just get it done. Hopefully the dual row Solution will be available by the time we need our next clutch.

3.6 all day long, 3.8 2009 will be my next car

I also dislike the 3.4 headlights compared to the turbo headlights but that is all a matter of opinion

Speaking of fish in the sea, a 2002 C2 was just reduced that I've kep my eye on.

Car has 90,000 Kms on it and the below is all new work
• REPLACED IMS BERING
• REAR MAIN SEAL
• NEW WATER PUMP
• NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS
• NEW CLUTCH DISK/ PRESS PLATE
• RELEASE BEARING/ CLUTCH FORK
• TUNEUP/ PLUGS
• TRANSMISSION SERVICE
• ALL LEAKS FIXED GASKETS AND SEALS
SOME OF THE EXTRAS INCLUDE
• V2 VORTECH ENGINEERING SUPERCHARGER 470HP ($14000.00)
• KW SUSPENSION V3 COILOVERS FRONT AND REAR SHOCKS
• HIGH PERFORMANCEADJUSTABLE COMPRESSION AND REBOUND ($6500.00)

Anyone have experience with a supercharger kit on a Porsche? Worries me a bit.

Slapping forced induction on these motors should worry anyone. Definitely go test drive it if it's close though! I'd love to hear impressions.

So that's like $25k of work...on a car that without all the mods would sell for > $20k?
